The Township of Bloomfield Department of Public Works (DPW) will host a targeted “Pothole Week” initiative from May 11 through May 15, 2026, combining community reporting and technology to address roadway conditions across the township.

During this effort, DPW crews will work to repair up to 100 potholes per day, focusing on locations identified through both township data and resident submissions. Officials are encouraging residents to take an active role by reporting potholes through the Township’s Clean & Strong SDL Portal at tinyurl.com/CleanStrong

“Pothole Week is most effective when residents are part of the process,” said DPW Director Sean Schwindt. “We’re asking the community to be our eyes on the ground. Every report helps us build a more complete picture of roadway conditions and ensures repairs are prioritized where they’re needed most.”

Bloomfield supplements these reports with Vialytics, an AI-powered camera system installed on streetsweepers and other municipal vehicles, which continuously scans and evaluates roadways. This technology provides real-time data on potholes and other infrastructure, allowing DPW to identify issues early and deploy crews more efficiently.

Mayor Jenny Mundell emphasized that the initiative reflects a broader commitment to collaboration between local government and residents.

“This is a hands-on way for residents to directly contribute to improving our community,” Mundell said. “By taking a moment to report a pothole, you’re helping us respond faster, work smarter, and keep Bloomfield’s streets safe and smooth for everyone.”

All submitted locations will be reviewed and added to DPW’s active repair list as they are received. Additional Pothole Weeks will be scheduled throughout the spring and summer months to continue addressing roadway conditions township-wide.

Residents are encouraged to report potholes and other quality-of-life concerns anytime through the Clean & Strong SDL Portal: tinyurl.com/CleanStrong
