Essex County to Host 'Project Homeless Connect Day'

Outreach event will offer meal and resources to local homeless population.

On Thursday, March 26, Essex County will join with over 65 local community and faith-based organizations to present their 9th Annual Project Homeless Connect Day.

Working out of the Essex County Branch Brook Park Roller Rink at Clifton Avenue and Seventh Street in Newark, volunteers and advocates will offer homeless residents a free meal and information about available programs and services in Essex County.

These programs include public assistance, health screenings, mental health services, emergency services, educational services, veterans’ services, employment services and free haircuts.

The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and is free and open to the public.

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development maintains a list of active homeless resources and services in Essex County on their website.
