More Catalytic Converter Thefts In Bloomfield; See Latest Locations

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Catalytic converter thefts continue to be reported in Bloomfield, police say.

Last week, several Bloomfield residents reported thefts of the expensive car parts. The Bloomfield Police Department released the following information about each incident:

  • Jan. 9 – “Officers responded to Claremont Avenue on a report of a theft from vehicle. The owner parked her vehicle on the street overnight. Upon returning to it, she noticed that someone cut the catalytic converter from her vehicle. The catalytic converter is valued at $1,000. No suspect(s) at this time.”
  • Jan. 9 – “Officers responded to Sandra Lane on report of a theft from vehicle. The owner he parked his vehicle on the street overnight. Upon returning to it, he noticed that someone cut the catalytic converter from the vehicle. The catalytic converter is valued at $1,000. No suspect(s) at this time.”
  • Jan. 9 – “Officers responded to Evans Road on report of a theft from vehicle. The owner parked both of his vehicles in the street overnight. Upon him and his wife returning to them, they noticed that someone cut the catalytic converters from their vehicles. The value of each catalytic converter is $1,000. No suspect(s) at this time.”
  • Jan. 10 – “Officers responded to Burroughs Place on report of a catalytic converter theft. The owner’s vehicle was parked in the lot of 72 between Jan. 6 and Jan. 10 when the converter was stolen. The vehicle is a 2019 Mitsubishi wagon color red. This incident is under investigation.”
  • Jan. 10 – “Officers responded to Jacob Street on report of a theft from vehicle. The owner parked her vehicle overnight on the street. Upon her returning to it, she noticed that someone cut the catalytic converter from her vehicle. The catalytic converter is valued at $1,000. Investigation will follow.”
  • Jan. 12 – “A victim walked into the police desk to report a theft from her vehicle. She stated that she parked her vehicle on the street overnight on Franklin Street and Berkeley Avenue. Upon returning to it, she noticed someone cut the catalytic converter from her vehicle. The catalytic converter is valued at $1,000. Investigation will follow.”

The thefts of catalytic converters have been a recurring issue in Bloomfield and other nearby municipalities in Essex County.
