Bloomfield Streets Flood After Storm Hits; 'Stay Home,' Cops Say
Bloomfield Police: "If you do not need to be driving, please stay home until the storm passes."
BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Bloomfield police had a simple message for residents when the flood waters rose on Wednesday: don’t go driving.
Forecasters had warned that parts of the state could see flooding, thunderstorms and possibly tornadoes as the remnants of Ida move through the region Wednesday to Thursday. Bloomfield was one of several Essex County towns to see flooding on Thursday night, authorities reported.

The Bloomfield Division of Public Safety issued an alert about the hazardous conditions around 9 p.m.:
"Heavy rain is causing flooded roadways throughout the town. If you see a road Is flooded, turn around! Please do not attempt to drive through the flooded roadway. Your safety is our biggest priority! If you do not need to be driving, please stay home until the storm passes."
