4 New Rides, Revamped Boardwalk Plans Unveiled For Six Flags Great Adventure
Park officials said the changes aim to capture the spirit of a night at the Jersey Shore.

JACKSON, NJ — Six Flags Great Adventure will be adding four new rides and bringing the flavor of a night at the Jersey Shore to the park with its makeover of the Boardwalk area.
Park officials have been teasing the transformation of the Boardwalk area for a few weeks ahead of Saturday's 2026 season opening, and on Thursday they released details of the changes.
The revamped area, which will be called Shoreline Pier at The Boardwalk, is anticipated to open in late spring.

"Shoreline Pier captures the spirit of a summer night down the Shore — salt in the air, lights dancing off the water, music drifting across the midway and rides whirling against a glowing sky," park officials said. "The addition honors beloved Jersey coast destinations while delivering new thrills and storytelling."
Four new-to-Great Adventure rides are being added and a fifth one existing at the park is being returned to its original name.

The new rides are:
Barrels O' Fun, a spinning family coaster with wooden barrel-inspired cars "that dip and twist like bobbing buoys on the surf;"
Flying Scooters, where riders soar on winged scooters, using the sails to swing, dip and glide, "choosing between a gentle breeze or a more thrilling ride with each push and pull;"

Wave Swinger, which lifts riders into the air, "spinning them above the midway with sweeping Boardwalk views and a weightless, soaring sensation." It is a throwback to the spirit of the Flying Wave swings ride that was a staple at Great Adventure from 1974 to 2007;

And Hypno Twister, a "light-drenched spinning ride that whirls guests through swirling colors and hypnotic rotations. Four interlocking, rotating arms perform a mesmerizing dance that delivers pops of weightlessness."

The Super Roundup, which has been a classic at the park since it opened in 1974, reclaims its original name in a new location and with a complete mechanical makeover, ready to tilt 80 degrees while spinning riders are stuck to its wall. It had more recently been know as Fantasy Fling, The Tornado and The Swashbuckler.
Shoreline Pier isn't just about the rides, park officials said. A new menu of boardwalk-inspired food will be available, including fresh-cut French fries; "disco" fries with melted mozzarella cheese and brown gravy; and "over-the-top, Jersey-inspired" funnel cake sundaes including the Triple Blueberry Roundup and the Holey Cannoli, and other boardwalk sweet treats.
There's also something that takes the summer fair staple corn dogs and makes it all about Jersey: the “Gabagool On-a-Stick:" Capicola dipped in corn batter and finished with a hot honey drizzle.
The makeover includes roaming entertainment, including towering stilt walkers, live musicians and other acts and high-energy performance artists.
Boardwalk Nights, which will be a limited-time summer event, is to include "electrifying stage performances featuring powerhouse vocalists, high-energy dancers and gravity-defying acrobats" with lighting and more designed to create an immersive experience after dark "that keeps the energy going well into the evening," park officials said.
"Shoreline Pier celebrates everything people love about New Jersey’s legendary boardwalks — the motion, the magic, the tastes, the thrills and the timeless sense of adventure," said Michael Fehnel, park manager of Six Flags Great Adventure. "This new area blends the alluring vibe of shore towns with classic midway fun, creating a destination that feels both nostalgic and brand-new."
