BRICK, NJ — A mother is hoping someone will do the right thing after her 10-year-old lost his wallet in the parking lot at Kohl's on Friday.

Jessica Pelletier Moe posted her plea in a local moms group on Facebook, urging the person who found the brown men's wallet to turn it in, not because of what's in the wallet, but because it has a history.

"This wallet was his grandfather's and means the world to him," she wrote. Her son, who just recently turned 10, had birthday and Christmas gifts in the wallet, she said.

"This belongs to my son," she wrote. "Literally fell out of his pocket from the time we left Five Below and walked to the car. Unfortunately, we didn’t notice until we drove off. We came right back and it was nowhere to be found."

She said they searched the parking lot and left her phone number at each store in case it is returned, but she's really hoping someone will simply do the right thing.

"If you found it, please contact me," she wrote. "And if you really feel the need to keep this wallet, just remember a 10-year-old is balling his eyes out because he feels he let his grandfather down."

"Turn it in!!!" she wrote.

Note: This article has been updated; the boy's wallet was found and returned to him.
