Brick Little League Celebrates 40+ Years of Youth Baseball

The Township of Brick has a long history of Little League Baseball being played at one of its oldest sports complexes in town at Edmund Hibbard Park and will be celebrating 40+ years over the course of the season.

Starting on Opening Day, Saturday April 1ST at 9:00 AM, and throughout the year, the League is bringing back past players, coaches and volunteers to help recognize its long history, which includes 4 NJ State Baseball Championships and over 40 years of community focused youth sports.

On Saturday April 29th the League will be hosting its 3rd Annual Volunteer Appreciation Day where they will host a BBQ, Coaches Lunch and Ceremony on its historic “Legacy Field”.

Beginning in 2023, the original Little League Field at Edmund Hibbard Park, that has been known recently as the South Field, will now be known as DICK’S Sporting Goods Legacy Field.

This field name was chosen to represent the history, pride, tradition, and legacy of youth baseball being played at the complex for over 40 years.

“Due to the growth of our League, we will require 3 Majors/Minors games being played simultaneously on Saturdays and some weeknights. Over the past few years, the original Field served as mostly a practice field, but because of over 560 players playing in the League now, there is a need to host more games on it. Much restoration, investment and volunteer hours were needed to bring the once Jewell of the League back to life to make this happen. We are excited to bring back its past players, coaches, and families from Brick Little League and Brick National Little League to celebrate the history of baseball in Brick.” Brick Little League President Mike Desmond.

To commemorate the history of the League a new throwback alternate logo for the League will be featured on Legacy Field to honor the history and tradition, the logo is a combination of the old Brick National logo with the current Brick Little League colors. Legacy Field will feature a new backstop, pitchers mound, signage and more. Members of the Edmund Hibbard Family will be on hand at Opening Day and Volunteer Appreciation Day to meet and greet with the current Little League members as they remember Edmund, whom the complex is named after since opening in the early 1980s. Mark Hibbard, the son of Edmund is scheduled to throw out one of the ceremonial first pitches on Opening Day.
