Brick Parks Welcome Town's 2- and 4-Legged Residents

Lake Riviera Park, and Angela Hibberd Park with its dog parks, were officially opened with ribbon-cutting ceremonies.

BRICK, NJ -- Two more of the township's park renovations have been completed and the parks officially opened to the public this week.

Lake Riviera Park and Angela Hibberd Park were officially christened with ribbon-cutting ceremonies on Tuesday and Wednesday. The projects, approved last year, were the third and fourth parks in the township to be renovated in the last year.

Bay Harbor Park was renovated and reopened at the beginning of October, and Colorado Park, now renamed Herbertsville Park, was completed last fall and reopened at the end of October.

The renovations at Lake Riviera Park include new playgrounds for 2- to 5-year-olds and 6- to 12-year-olds, replacing the fishing pier, docks and walkway and a new gazebo. The basketball courts were redone and the parking lot redesigned to eliminate kids doing donuts in the parking lot, Councilwoman Andrea Zapcic said last spring when the projects were announced in March 2015.

Among the highlights at Angela Hibberd Park was the addition of two off-leash dog parks, one for large dogs and one for small ones. Check out some of the township's canines enjoying romping in the new park.

Angela Hibberd Park's renovations were completed by Precise Construction of Freehold; the approved bid was $964,720. In addition to the dog parks, the park now has a pickleball court, a tennis court and playground areas. There also is a trail for walking and jogging.

At Lake Riviera Park the renovations were completed by Jamali Developers, under a contract awarded for $977.021.

Birchwood Park's design and construction are to be completed this year, while design work for both Bernard J. Cook Park and Bayside Park will be done this year, officials have said.
