Brick Police: Reported Incidents At Sports Complex Still Not Confirmed

While patrols will continue, police no longer believe "anything of concern" happened last Saturday.

Reports that a man may have been following or accosting children last weekend near the Drum Point Sports Complex may not have been what they appeared, Brick Township police said Friday.

Police responded to the complex last Saturday, April 11, after receiving a report that a suspicious male carrying a backpack had approached and followed a pair of boys to a pizza parlor nearby.

Detective Sgt. Henry Drew said the officers located the man who matched the description given of the suspicious subject and spoke with him.

But despite repeated requests to speak with anyone who had direct contact with the man, no one came forward, Drew said.

“As of today, we have not received information from anyone that was directly contacted by the subject, and do not believe anything of concern occurred,” he said.

Brick Police will continue additional patrols in the area, Drew said. Residents are reminded that if they see something suspicious they should call the police department at 732-262-1100.
