Emma Havens Young Teacher Named Brick's Teacher Of Year
The fifth-grade STEM teacher keeps students engaged with lessons, district says.

BRICK, NJ -- Jeanette Wehner, a fifth-grade teacher at Emma Havens Young Elementary School, has been named the Brick Township School District's Teacher of the Year for 2015-16.
The district said Wehner, an in-class support and STEM teacher, "is always engaging in new technology and techniques to use in the classroom as she promotes a STEM curriculum where students learn by doing.
"Her action inspires others as she goes above and beyond for her students and colleagues alike," Emma Havens Young Principal Patricia Lorusso said in a news release. "She is truly an asset to our school community."

She "inspires others to dream more, learn more and do more," the district news release said. Wehner is a contributor to and presenter in the district’s Professional Development Academy.
"We are honored to have Ms. Wehner among our very talented faculty," district officials said in the release.

Brick's district teacher of the year is chosen from a pool of nominees with academic contribution and student performance as important factors in the committee's selection, the release said. "The nominees for each individual school clearly represent the endless commitment to the students of Brick Township."
