Are you over 60 years old and no longer driving, or caring for someone at home? Since 1993, the interfaith, nonprofit agency Caregiver Volunteers of Central Jersey (CVCJ) has been providing vital volunteer assistance to help individuals over 60 years old and their caregivers. Their mission is accomplished through a variety of services, all designed to allow people to remain in their own homes, provide joyful companionship and build connections to end isolation and loneliness.
At no cost to recipients, volunteers will provide round trip transportation to medical appointments (volunteers use their own car), grocery shopping (volunteers shop once every 2 weeks), friendly visits & phone calls to those who may feel lonely and live far from their families, in home pet visits with therapy dogs to provide tail-wagging joy, Veteran Outreach and Support by matching volunteer veterans to home-bound veterans and their families.
For caregivers, the Alzheimer’s Respite Care Program offers weekly in-home volunteer visits for 2-3 hours to provide relief and allow caregivers to take time for themselves. Referrals to other agencies for help are also gladly provided.
