Lightning Strikes Spark House Fire In Brick: Police
Thunderstorms that moved through the area pelted Brick with lightning; the house fire was under control by 10 a.m., police said.

BRICK, NJ — The strong thunderstorms that moved through Ocean County on Friday morning produced a significant amount of lightning in Brick Township, and one home caught fire as a result, police said.
Multiple lightning strikes were reported across the township, police confirmed. A home in the Cherry Quay section caught fire as a result of a strike, but the fire was under control quickly, the desk sergeant said.
Scanner reports indicated a tree was hit by lightning along Lanes Mill Road as well. There are scattered reports of localized power outages in Brick as well, according to Jersey Central Power & Light's outage map.

The storm brought heavy rain across northern Ocean County, with Route 70 flooding in Lakehurst and reports of roads in Lakewood affected as well.
The website Lightningmaps.org shows dozens of reported strikes between 7:45 and 9:45 a.m.
