Man Accused Of Gunning Down Mob Boss To Appear In Ocean Co Court

Anthony Comello, the New York man accused of gunning down reputed Gambino family crime boss Francesco Cali last week in front of Cali's home, is expected to appear in court in Ocean County Monday afternoon.
Comello, 24, was still listed as being in custody in the Ocean County Jail on as of 10:45 a.m. Monday, according to online jail records. But he is expected to waive extradition and return to New York when he makes that appearance in Ocean County, NJ.com reported.
Comello is scheduled to appear before Ocean County Superior Court Judge Wendel E. Daniels at 2:30 p.m., the Ocean County prosecutor's office said Monday morning.

Comello was arrested by the New York/New Jersey Regional Task Force Saturday in Brick Township at the home of relatives on Cadiz Drive, in the Baywood section of Brick. On Sunday, Brick Township police were limiting access to the neighborhood that sits on Barnegat Bay, NJ.com reported, as news crews swarmed the area.
Cali, 53, known as "Franky Boy" was shot 10 times outside his Staten Island home after Comello smashed a pickup truck into Cali's SUV, The New York Daily News reported. Comello's fingerprint was lifted from Cali's car, the report said. A blue pickup truck was seen fleeing from the scene. NYPD Chief of Detective Dermot Shea said at a news conference that the truck was recovered when authorities apprehended Comello in New Jersey.

The New Tork Post described Comello as a "Staten Island hothead" who killed the Gambino boss because he had a personal beef, police and sources said. Comello, 24,works odd construction jobs, the report said.
That beef appears to be over Cali's refusal to allow Comello to pursue a romantic relationship with one of Cali’s female relatives, the New York Times reported.
