Man Runs Over Brick Bus Driver's Foot During Incident At School: Authorities

Breaking: The man was parked in a buses-only lane and ran over the driver's foot after she told him to move, authorities said.

BRICK, NJ — A Brick Township School District bus driver's foot was run over during an incident in the Veterans Memorial Middle School parking lot Wednesday afternoon, authorities confirmed.

Brick Township police late Wednesday night said the bus driver was not seriously injured and refused medical treatment at the scene, but did not have complete details of the incident available at the time.

Interim Superintendent Thomas Gialanella confirmed information provided to the Patch that said a male driver had pulled his truck into the lane at Veterans Memorial Middle School that is marked for school buses only.

The head bus driver told the driver he had to move because he was not allowed to be there, at which time the man began yelling and cursing at the bus driver. The man then pulled out and moved his truck, running over the bus driver's foot in the process.

The incident happened as the elementary school was letting out for the day, and as buses were returning from a field trip, which jammed the parking lot, according to information provided to the Patch.

The parking area and school bus lanes at the Veterans Memorial Middle and Elementary School complex is on the list of capital projects the district intends to undertake this year, with plans to adjust traffic flow for buses and parents at the site.
