Northern Ocean Habitat for Humanity to Complete 400th Home Repair

(Thursday, April 4) Next week, Northern Ocean Habitat for Humanity will celebrate their 400th critical home repair in Brick Township, NJ for John and his partner, Jennifer.

In 1971, John served in the United States Airforce for 4 years in The Korean War. After the Airforce, he worked in moving and delivery services.

Both John and Jennifer have mobility issues, raising a need for ADA modifications and repair work that will allow them to age-in-place. With three damaged porches, it’s difficult for the couple to get in and out of their home.

On April 8, The Northern Ocean Habitat for Humanity construction team will begin working on a ramp that will extend from the front porch to the driveway with the help of the Ocean County Vocational Technical School. The lumber for the ramp will be donated by Woodhaven Lumber.

John and Jennifer will also receive the changes they need in their bathroom, with Ferguson donating a shower enclosure to perform a tub-to-shower conversion. This project will be funded by the Brick Township Community Development Block Grant.

Northern Ocean Habitat for Humanity will be joined by community members and partners at the worksite to celebrate the milestone and share the vision of everyone having a decent place to live.
