Cars Trapped As Storm Floods Brick Roads: Photos, Video

Several people had to be rescued as flash flooding trapped them in their cars on Princeton Avenue and at Ocean Medical Centet, reports said.

BRICK, NJ — Strong thunderstorms that drenched Ocean County on Tuesday trapped several people in their cars as the deluge of rain led to flooded roads and even the parking lot at Ocean Medical Center.

Princeton Avenue was significantly flooded and closed to traffic for more than two hours, Brick Township police said, as the storm brought 4.55 inches of rain to Brick, according to the National Weather Service. It was far from the only flooded road, however.

Jack Martin Boulevard at the corner with Burrsville Road, which floods during every storm, was inundated, and part of the parking lot at Ocean Medical Center flooded as well, according to posters commenting on What's going on in Brick Facebook page, which reports radio scanner transmissions. Route 70, Chambersbridge Road and several neighborhood roads flooded as well.
