1 Dead, 4 Injured In Serious I-287 Crash In Bridgewater
An Infiniti crossed all lanes, drove off the road to the right and up an embankment before hitting multiple trees on Tuesday night: Police.
BRIDGEWATER, NJ — One person is dead and four other people are seriously injured following a two-car crash on Interstate 287 in Bridgewater on Tuesday night.
At around 7:30 p.m. on I-287 South at milepost 18.4, an Infiniti passenger car and a Nissan passenger car were driving south on the local lanes of I-287, according to a preliminary investigation by New Jersey State Police(NJSP).
The Infiniti drove off the left side of the road to improperly pass the Nissan, said NJSP Sgt. Philip Curry.

After getting back on the highway, the Infiniti hit the left front of the Nissan, said Curry.
After the initial impact, the Infiniti drove across all lanes, ran off the road to the right, drove up an embankment before hitting multiple trees, said Curry.

The driver of the Nissan was not injured as a result of the crash.
The driver of the Infiniti, Felipe Exposito-Sanchez, 24, of Linden, had serious injuries. His passenger Lissanne Reyes Mejia, 35, of Perth Amboy, died from her injuries.
Three other passengers in the Infiniti also sustained serious injuries.
The local lanes of I-287 southbound were closed for about 5 hours resulting in moderate traffic congestion.
The crash remains under investigation.
