📰 News we're reading

1. 4-H Medieval Jubilee To Transport Somerset County Families Back To Fun & Frolic (patch.com) — Families in Bridgewater can step into a medieval-themed day of games, demonstrations, and an artisan marketplace when the Somerset County 4-H Center hosts its Medieval Jubilee on Oct. 25. Held on Milltown Road, the fundraiser features an archery tournament and a new Fairy House Contest, with entries dropped off the day before. Proceeds support the Somerset County 4-H Association while offering local kids and parents a full day of creative fun.

2. Board Member Under Fire For 'Attacking Educators' In Bridgewater-Raritan (patch.com) — Bridgewater residents are watching a growing clash on the Bridgewater-Raritan school board as the teachers union president publicly urged board member Jeremy Li to resign, accusing him of undermining educators. At a recent meeting, union leaders praised staff for navigating full-day kindergarten but condemned what they described as intimidation and misinformation, while Li responded online vowing to keep fighting for families and taxpayers. The dispute is also raising concerns about marathon board meetings that may discourage public participation.

3. Free Cardboard Drop-Off For New Somerset County Residents (patch.com) — New Somerset County residents can drop off extra moving-box cardboard for free at the county recycling center on Polhemus Lane in Bridgewater, weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The program is designed for people with more cardboard than curbside rules allow and aims to make it easier to settle in while supporting countywide recycling goals.

4. Residents Express Concerns About Long Bus Times at Start of School Year (tapinto.net) — Families in Bridgewater are demanding fixes after the first week of school brought long, crowded, and sometimes no-show bus rides in the Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District. At the Sept. 15 board of education meeting, parents detailed hour-plus routes, safety worries, and poor communication, while the superintendent acknowledged failures, cited new routing software and contracted routes, and promised ongoing adjustments and more in-house drivers.

5. Weekending 'Round The Towns: September 18-20, 2026 (franklinreporter.com) — Bridgewater residents have a full slate of things to do this weekend, including the free Canstruction at the Commons exhibit at Bridgewater Commons running Friday through Sunday. Nearby, you'll also find Rutgers football, festivals in Raritan, Somerville, Princeton and West Windsor, plus concerts, theater, and family activities all within an easy drive of town.
