4 Sworn In To Serve On Bridgewater-Raritan Board Of Education

Incumbent Steven Singer, Emily Calistri and Langfang "Lucy" Li will represent Bridgewater and Michael Pepe will represent Raritan.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — Four members were sworn in on the Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District’s Board of Education at the Tuesday night Reorganization meeting.

Incumbent Steven Singer along with Emily Calistri and Lanfang "Lucy" Li won over incumbent Lynne Hurley along with Sally Bartlett, Saad Toor, and June Wang in the November election to represent Bridgewater Township. All three will be filling the three, three-year term seats.

"I am excited to serve the community and for the best interest of our kids," Calistri said.

"I want to thank the community for giving me the opportunity to be here," Li said.

Michael Pepe, who was voted in as a write-in candidate, will represent Raritan Borough for the one-year unexpired seat.

Singer was also unanimously voted to serve as the Board President for the second straight year.

Board of Education member Barry Walker was then elected to serve as the Vice President. Walker replaces the 2022 Vice President, Hurley.

Pepe has been serving on the Board since September of 2022 when he filled the vacated seat of the one-year unexpired term of Lucy Sandler, who had retired. Read More: School Board Member Resigns, Bridgewater-Raritan Looks To Fill Vacancy

Additionally during the meeting, board members appointed Walker to serve as the Board of Education’s representative to the Somerset County Educational Services Commission Board of Directors while Board of Education member Stacy Friedlander will be the alternate.

Pepe was appointed to be the delegate to the New Jersey School Boards Association’s Delegate
Assembly, with Board of Education member Jessica Levitt will be the alternate.

Board of Education member A.J. Joshi will serve as the delegate to the Somerset County School Boards Association.

Calistri will serve as the Board of Education’s representative to Bridgewater Township and Pepe will hold the same position for Raritan Borough.

The first general public meeting for the Board of Education is scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 10, at the Bridgewater-Raritan High School’s media center.
