
On Sunday, Middle Earth will be hosting its third annual "Run From Winter" 10K race in for those wanting to do an event longer than a 5K, but not quite a half marathon. The event will be held at 10 a.m. So in honor of the run, and to get participants psyched two days in advance, we present five facts to know about Middle Earth.

- Youth Advocate—The organization advocates for community youth to help them get through appropriate services, as well as allowing for them to find volunteer opportunities such as with Tour of Somerville.
- Somerset County Based—The organization was incorporated in 1972, and is in direct response to the needs of youth in Somerset County, particularly working initially in Somerville.
- Youth Center—The drop-in location, in Bound Brook, offers tutoring, recreation, crisis intervention, mentoring, community service and much more.
- Journeys—This program is for Somerset County youth, ages 12 to 17, who have poor school attendance, conflicts in the home, frequent contact with police and other needs that require out-of-school help. It offers educational support, character education, anger management, leadership training and much more.
- Station House Adjustment—This program offers community service to those youth who are first-time offenders with the police, and who are required to do the community service as consequence. The program is conducted on Saturday mornings in local communities.
