Lori Dillon Joins The Martin and Edith Stein Hospice

Lori Dillon recently joined the staff of The Martin and Edith Stein Hospice as their Social Worker.  Dillon, a resident of Cranbury, New Jersey, “comes to us with a great deal of experience in Hospice and Geriatric care and we are excited to add her to our hospice team”, says Bruce Birnberg, the Executive Director of the Stein Hospice. 

Lori started her medical/social work career at Hadassah Hospital with the World Union of Jewish Students in Israel. She enjoyed her time in Israel and said that it was a “life-changing experience and hopes to be able to travel back there again”. 

Upon her returned to the United States Lori worked at St. Peter’s University Hospital in the Geriatrics department.  Her responsibilities included psychosocial assessments, mental status testing, as well as, arranging geriatrics services for seniors in Monroe Township. While she was working at St. Peter’s, she completed her Master’s Degree in Social Work at Rutgers University. Most recently, Lori was the Palliative Care Social Worker at Capital Health Systems at Mercer Hospital in Trenton.

Lori is certified for Hospice and Palliative Care Social Work through the National Association of Social Workers.  She has completed training with the Education on Palliative and End of Life Care Project through Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago.  She has also completed course work in clinical social work supervision.   

Lori lives with her husband, Mark, and enjoys cooking, reading and travelling.  Lori’s inspiration for working with Hospice comes from her grandmother, Minnie. who benefited from Hospice services at the end of her life.
