The Bridgewater Library

So much more than a place to "get a book"

The Bridgewater library located on North Bridge Street in Bridgewater,NJ, is a seemingly innocuous place; your typical text book library where you would be able to search out a book of your choosing and leave happily on your way knowing you had a couple of weeks to return it, and not think twice until to came back to make your next selection. This may be true of some libraries but the Bridgewater Library is in fact SO MUCH MORE!

Yes, it is true that the library offers a huge selection of titles, and a comprehensive selection of authors, titles, and subject matter, and the staff is courteous, attentive, and professional; however, the most unnoticed and not utilized benefit of this Bridgewater institution distinguishes it from your average town library. It has been said that "the best things in life are free." It seems that upon a closer inspection of the services and programs that the Bridgewater Library has to offer this statement may have been written with them in mind. Besides a vast array of available titles and authors, a "Teen Room", a "Children's section," and a more than ample supply of computer terminals (I have never had to wait nor been kicked off of one due to time constraints.) This facility offers an atmosphere for quiet work and study, and provides the patron with a feeling of comfort and privacy. The staff is helpful yet unobtrusive, the computers are new and the chairs are comfortable.

But there is so much more to the Bridgewater Library than meets the eye. If one didn't inquire into what they have to offer, so much would be missed. In their lobby you will find an informational flyer, (ie: "Roll into September", the current issue.) In this flyer you will find a plethora of free programs that are offered to the public, including instructional, self help, and entertainment that the Bridgewater Library has to offer for the month of September. These community friendly opportunities are extremely varied to meet many different needs. for example you will find classes entitled: "Identity Theft & You", "Sensory Friendly Art Class", "Homework Helpers" ( a volunteer tutoring program), "The Growing Problem of Heroin Abuse", as well as various book clubs, movie offerings, free concerts, and so much more!

It is our opinion that you will find that this place is SO MUCH MORE than that! It offers so many services to the community and it should not be discounted as "just a library" but as a resource center.

Your support of the library is greatly appreciated and your patronage requires no more than obtaining a library card and a willing attitude.
