RWJUH Somerset Paramedics, Readington Fire, and Neshanic Fire also arrived to help.
New Jersey State Police North Star MedEvac was initially requested to help with taking the driver to the hospital, however, EMS/Paramedics ultimately took the driver to RWJUH Somerset Hospital via ambulance where he was later pronounced dead as a result of the injuries sustained from the crash, said Buck.
The driver’s name is being withheld from this press release at this time out of respect for the privacy of his family and loved ones.
An initial on-scene investigation determined that the Mercedes was traveling northbound on Route 202 when it entered the grass median and hit a drainage basin which projected the vehicle to a point where it rolled over and eventually hit the traffic light at Route 202 and Whiton Road, said Buck.
Due to the severity of the crash which involved a downed traffic light, Route 202 was closed in both directions at Whiton Road.
NJ State DOT Diversion set up detours until the crash scene could be cleared.
Further investigation into the crash remains ongoing by Branchburg Police Detectives at this time.
