Man Sentenced For Sexually Assaulting Child In Somerset County

BOUND BROOK, NJ — A man was sentenced to serve seven years in New Jersey State Prison for sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl in his Bound Brook home.

On Monday, Lenic S. Galvan, 22, currently of Piscataway and formerly of Linden Avenue, Bound Brook, was sentenced on his conviction for second-degree sexual assault by contact of a victim less than 13 years old.

Galvan will not be eligible for parole until he serves 85 percent of the sentence. The sentence requires Galvan to register as a sex offender under Megan’s Law and places him on Parole Supervision for Life.

During sentencing, Somerset County Superior Court Judge Jonathan W. Romankow noted Galvan’s predatory behavior.

She said that she met Galvin on social media and he arranged for transportation for the 12-year-old girl to his home in Bound Brook where he sexually assaulted her, according to an interview she gave to a Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Sex Crimes/Child Abuse Unit detective and Bound Brook Borough Police Detectives.

Following an investigation and DNA results, Galvan was arrested on July 26, 2022, without incident in Bound Brook and charged with first-degree aggravated sexual assault, second-degree sexual assault by contact and third-degree endangering the welfare of a child.

On May 14, 2024, a Somerset County Jury convicted Galvan of second-degree sexual assault by contact and third-degree endangering the welfare of a child after six days of trial.

During trial, the State was represented by First Assistant Prosecutor Annemarie Mueller, Assistant Prosecutor Emily Pirro, and Litigation Paralegal Supervisor Amy Vandergoot.
