Police Warn Of Scam Impersonating Branchburg Police Chief

The scammers use the Branchburg Police Department number and tell residents that their personal information has been compromised.

BRANCHBURG, NJ — Police are warning residents of a phone scam that involves the impersonation of Branchburg Police Chief Richard Buck.

The phone scammers will call residents using the Branchburg Police Department number to deceive residents and claim that their personal information has been compromised.

"THIS IS 100% FRAUDULENT ACTIVITY! DO NOT provide any identity-sensitive information during such fraudulent attempts of anyone impersonating a Police Officer (especially our Chief of Police) over the phone," said the police.

Police are asking residents to share this warning with friends, neighbors, and loved ones - particularly seniors who may not have access to social media.

"It is our understanding at this time that neighboring agencies have experienced similar scam attempts in their jurisdiction as well," said police.
