Raritan Attorney Allegedly Asks for Sexual Favors for Lower Legal Fees

Richard Schubach fondles undercover cop before arrest, police report

Raritan, NJ -- A Raritan attorney was arrested for allegedly offering some of his female clients a reduced price for his legal fees in exchange for sexual favors, Somerset County Prosecutor Geoffrey D. Soriano announced.

Richard P. Schubach, age 58, of Pine Hill Road, Stockton was charged with three counts of Criminal Sexual Contact, fourth degree.

Allegations against Schubach arose in December of 2015 when a concerned citizen contacted the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office in reference to allegations involving his legal practice located at 1124 Route 202 in Raritan.

A female undercover detective met with Schubach on Jan. 28 at his law office pretending to need help with a criminal matter.

Schubach asked the undercover detective to return to his office the next day and to wear something “pretty” for their next meeting, police report.

The detective returned to the office on Jan. 29, where Schubach approached her and without permission or prompting, placed his hand into/under the undercover detective’s blouse and began fondling her breast, police report.

Schubach approached the detective and placed his hand into/under her blouse and onto her breast a second time and also placed his hand on the inner thigh of the detective. police report.

When the detective attempted to leave, telling Schubach “I don’t like this”, he approached her by the exit door, and he proceeded to expose her right breast and place his mouth onto her breast, police report.

He also instructed her to turn around to face him while he proceeded to lift up her skirt, police report.

Schubach was arrested on Jan. 29 after the meeting with the undercover detective.

Bail was set by the Honorable Robert Reed, P.J. Cr., at $2,500 with a 10% option to apply. After posting bail, Defendant Schubach was released.
