Somerville Food Tour Is A Hit With Locals, Announces More Dates
The Jersey Girls walking tour stops at Somerville restaurants to sample food, drink and talk to chefs. A bar-focused tour is also planned.
SOMERVILLE, NJ — Locals from across Somerset County and beyond came out with empty stomachs to try out Jersey Girls's first Food Tour in Somerville on Saturday, Nov. 3.
The walking tour named "A Taste Around The World" began at Ai Sushi on 30 S Doughty Ave. where guests sampled the tastes of Japan including Mackaral and Salmon sashimi and charred octopus salad.
Next stop was Italy at Cafe Picasso. Guests enjoyed an antipasto plate which included handmade mozzarella and also a pasta bolognese bowl. Next was Thai food at Kuay Tiew where along with fried rice guests tried an ice cream on a bun complete with black beans. Many dishes were paired with wines from Discover Wine.

Division Cafe then brought in the tastes Argentina with an array of empanadas. Last stop were after dinner drinks at Verve to end the night.
Locals from Green Brook and Warren raved about the experience to try new restaurants and tastes new foods.

Due to popular demand, Jersey Girls Food Tours added another date in Somerville on Saturday, Nov. 24 and also a Happy Hour Tour on Wednesday, Dec. 12 for special Holiday Happy Hour tour, where visitors will sample drinks from some of the best bars in Somerville paired with small bites.
Jersey Girls Food Tours is a Jersey-City based company which hosts restaurant tours in Jersey City, Red Bank, Princeton and Rutherford.
Monthly public tours, with private tour options also available, will be hosted for groups of 10 to 20 people which will take them on an intimate, exclusive culinary journey to four to five Somerville restaurants – all within walking distance of one another – for samplings of food and drink as well as conversations with chefs and owners.
To buy tickets, guests can visit jerseygirlsfoodtours.com. Tickets must be purchased in advance and tend to sell out quickly. Those with food allergies and sensitivities can always be accommodated.
"The restaurant scene in downtown Somerville is a true hidden gem, featuring tons of amazing mom and pop eateries that make deciding on your dinner spot a difficult choice," said Jenna Intersimone, a Somerville resident who helps lead the tours. "Bringing a food tour here was a no-brainer, and we're excited to give our guests a sample of this ever-growing local culinary scene."
