UPDATED: Election Results In The Caldwells: Mayor, Council, Schools

THE CALDWELLS, NJ — Voters in Caldwell, North Caldwell, and West Caldwell went to the polls Tuesday to vote for mayor, council, and U.S. representative.

Mayor And Town Council: There were municipal races in Caldwell, North Caldwell, and West Caldwell.

Totals are not official until all the ballots have been counted — including those mailed in on Tuesday — and the county clerk certifies the race.

For mayor in Caldwell and North Caldwell, the races were close, with only a few dozen votes separating Democrat and Republican mayors as of late Tuesday night. By Wednesday morning, Caldwell Republican mayoral candidate Garrett Jones was leading Democrat Francis X. Rodgers by about 200 votes. See the preliminary totals from Tuesday here.

In West Caldwell, Republican Joseph Tempesta Jr. amassed 3,183 votes unopposed by Wednesday morning.

Council Races: The North Caldwell Borough Council race was close, with a few dozen votes separating four contenders. In Caldwell, the two Republican council candidates had moved ahead of their Democratic opponents by Wednesday morning. See the preliminary results here.

In West Caldwell, Republicans Joseph Cecere and Stephen Wolsky ran for Township Council unopposed, gaining 3,045 and 2,961 votes respectively.

Local School Boards: School board candidates filed to run for the Caldwell-West Caldwell Board of Education, the North Caldwell Board of Education, and the West Essex Regional School District Board of Education (which has a North Caldwell representative).

11th Congressional District: Democratic incumbent U.S. Rep. Mikie Sherrill appears to have won.

The recently redrawn 11th District includes, in Essex County: Belleville, Bloomfield, Cedar Grove, Fairfield, Glen Ridge, Livingston, Maplewood, Millburn, Montclair (part), North Caldwell, Nutley, Roseland, South Orange, and West Caldwell.
