During a March 22 public meeting, North Caldwell Mayor Joseph Alessi said that he’s spoken to hundreds of residents who are ecstatic about the Walker’s Pond improvements and don’t want to see a private developer purchase the property, TAP Into West Essex reported.

As for financing, $311,250 expected to be received as a Green Acres Grant from the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection and $150,000 is expected to be received as an Open Space Grant from the County of Essex, town officials stated in a public notice.
