1300 Doors Knocked; Craig Alperowitz Thanks Chatham Township Residents

I came to this campaign with no agenda or personal motive. It’s the same reason I joined the Chatham Emergency Squad 7+ years ago - because I believe I can make an impact and make a difference.

When the Chatham Township Debate fell apart, despite offering Mark Lois any date from September 23 until Election Day, which was refused or ignored, I knew I had to find alternative ways to reach voters. I’ve embraced every possible opportunity to have the people of Chatham Township get to know me better. I have sent out a mailer introducing myself, built a public-facing website, participated in an interview with the Chatham Courier, have public social media accounts and received numerous published endorsements about my character from Republicans and Democrats alike.

Paramount to all this, I have been going directly to the voters and knocking on doors - more than 1,300 so far. And in my conversations with hundreds of residents, two observations stand out the most:

Residents want open lines of communication

An overwhelming majority of residents I’ve spoken to would like to feel more informed and connected to the Township. They would like to have more opportunities to share their opinions, know they’ve been heard and feel good about the decisions being made.

Volunteerism is what makes Chatham a warm community

Community is created and sustained in large part by the hundreds of volunteers who sacrifice so much of their time. There are so many more things that unite us than divide us, thanks to the folks bringing us together for fun and in the face of challenges. From emergency services volunteers to scout troop leaders, members of Township committees and commissions, to coaches and PTO and charity organizers - these are the people who make Chatham the best place to live, work and play.
I am confident that these are areas where I can support voters’ interests and give voice to their concerns.

Above all, I hope you’ve seen for yourself that my campaign has been positive, inclusive and transparent at every point. In fact, many times I fought hard to keep it that way and resisted the urge to add negative commentary. In the end, we are all neighbors who share a love of Chatham Township and while it's important for voters to see the differences between me and my opponent, I strived very hard to do it respectfully and constructively.

While there is more work to be done before Election Day, I’d like to thank the people of Chatham Township for opening their doors and engaging in meaningful conversations over the past 3 months and I hope to earn your vote on November 5 so I can work even harder for the people of Chatham Township.
