Road Safety Study Approved By Chatham Township Council
The Chatham Township Committee authorized a future safety study of the intersection of Fairmount Avenue and Mountainview Road, due to raised concerns about speeding. Members of the committee acknowledged that there have been complaints about the intersection of Mountainview Road and Fairmount Avenue's safety, vehicular speed and conditions. The section of Mountainview Road closest to Fairmount Avenue, in particular, is known as a school bus stop or children's waiting area for school buses.

Library Of The Chathams Extends A Warm Welcome To Everyone
In recent months, Library of the Chathams has made a concerted effort to create an environment where everyone feels welcome. It set up a taskforce, Coming Out of the Dark Age (CODA) that put forth several measures to make the library even more open and welcoming to the community. Overdue fines for Chatham items are gone. Your library cards can now be renewed for ten years instead of three, and you can renew them by phone. Mandatory fees for the use of meeting rooms have been eliminated.

25 Chatham High School Juniors Receive Academic Awards, Honors
In the final week of the school year, 25 Chatham High juniors were chosen to receive CHS Junior Book Awards. Every year, CHS honors a select group of students with college "Book Awards." College book awards are sponsored by select colleges for participating high schools and recognize juniors who have demonstrated some combination of academic achievement, leadership, service and character.
5 Cars Stolen Near Chatham, Police Issue Warning
Due to an increase in vehicle thefts in two communities near Chatham in recent days, the Chatham Borough and Township Police Departments would like to remind all residents to be cautious when leaving their cars parked. Five vehicles have been stolen from two surrounding towns just outside the Chatham borders in the last 48 hours, with the most recent one being stolen at around 1:00 p.m. yesterday, according to police.
Chatham Basketball Tournament To Raise Funds For Pediatric Cancer
A new event happening in Chatham to help fight childhood cancer is just one month away. The Chatham Be Positive Club and the Chatham Basketball Club are teaming up to host the first-ever Chatham Be Positive 3×3 Basketball Tournament Fundraiser. All funds raised will go to the Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation, which assists families of children with cancer. The fundraiser will be held on Aug. 20, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Garden Park basketball courts, located at 480 Main St, next to Chatham Middle School.
Fatal Car Crash In Morris Co. Remains Under Investigation
A Stanhope man was killed Thursday afternoon after running off a highway ramp and crashing into multiple trees in Morris County, according to state police. Luke Muller, 32, was driving a Pontiac Grand Prix on the Route 206 south ramp to Interstate 80 east in Mount Olive when the vehicle went off the right side of the road and crashed into several trees, according to New Jersey State Police Trooper Brandi Slota. Authorities were called to the scene shortly after 3 p.m. where they found the motorist suffered fatal injuries in the crash, Slota said.
'The Moving Wall' Replica Of Vietnam Veterans Memorial Coming To CCM
The County College of Morris (CCM) and volunteer groups have worked tirelessly to prepare the site for The Moving Wall, which will be displayed on campus to honor Vietnam veterans and those who made the ultimate sacrifice. Residents of Morris County and beyond can view a half-scale replica of Washington, D.C.'s Vietnam Veterans Memorial, which will be on display from July 7 to 11 on CCM's campus at 214 Center Grove Road, Randolph, near parking lot 1.
Do You Know Him? Morris Co. Police Need Help Identifying Theft Suspect
Residents are being asked by the Morris County Sheriff's CrimeStoppers to assist in identifying this man, who is a suspect in a string of burglaries, according to police. Police claim that between 7:30 p.m. on June 29 and 2 a.m. on June 30, a suspect used a tool to pry open doors and entered a series of office and commercial buildings. According to authorities, the suspect either covered or switched off surveillance cameras while inside the office.
Morris Co. Local Wins Cash For Life From New Jersey Lottery
A Morris County resident recently won $1,000 a week for the rest of their life after playing the New Jersey Lottery's Cash4Life game, lottery officials said. The lucky ticket was purchased at Buy Rite Liquors, 286 Route 206, Flanders and matched the five white balls drawn for the Friday, July 1, drawing winning the $1,000 a week for life second-tier prize.
Concerns Raised Over Future Of Joint Chatham Recreation Program
The Chatham Township Committee recently voted 3-2 to "terminate/renegotiate" the 2016 amendment that established a joint recreation director for the township and borough. The committee unanimously voted last week to authorize the administration to offer the position to Larry McCann, who will begin on an unspecified date.
