All Are Invited to Hear First-Hand Account of A Refugee’s Story

Presbyterian Church of Chatham to host Syrian refugee who will share her story of the years-long journey to the US in pursuit of freedom

The stories of refugees around our planet are part of a never-ending news cycle, but what does the story truly look like in our own communities here in New Jersey? What is it like to decide to flee your home and leave behind everything you have ever known? All are welcome to participate in a free education program at the Presbyterian Church of Chatham Township (PCCT – 240 Southern Boulevard, Chatham) on Sunday, September 30 at 11:15 a.m. Come listen, learn, and get to know more about Duha, her family, and how they have made a new and different home here in New Jersey thanks to the help of RAMP (Refugee Assistance Morris Partners).

RAMP is a nonprofit coalition of faith-based organizations dedicated to helping families from Middle Eastern refugee camps transition to productive lives here in Morris County. Working with Church World Service, RAMP has sponsored two families. Duha’s family was the first to arrive in 2016. As a member organization of RAMP, PCCT has provided both volunteer and financial support to these families during their transition, and several of our members continue to volunteer at RAMP.

There will be ample time for questions. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to gain insight into the plight that millions across the globe are facing and how one family went from terrible suffering and turbulence to a life of security and happiness.
