The New Jersey Youth Chorus has a busy winter in store. We are auditioning for our young boys’ choir, hosting a workshop for boys and girls, and registration is open for our spring class for 3rd graders. We have also been nominated for a JerseyArts.com People’s Choice award, and you can help us win!
If you know a boy who likes to sing, now is the time to look into NJYC. We are auditioning boys in grades 4 through 6 to join us immediately. Choral singing boosts confidence, memory, and social skills, and fosters teamwork. This is a unique opportunity to become a part of something special, and have fun at the same time.
We are also offering the 4th through 6th grade age group – both boys and girls – the opportunity to attend our Elementary Choral Festival, to be held in Chatham on Saturday, March 24th. Featuring clinicians Tom Shelton and Fred Meads, the festival will consist of exercises and rehearsals during the day, and culminate in a concert at 4 PM. It is free to attend, and open to the public.

Do you have a budding singer in 3rd Grade? Consider enrolling in NJYC’s Primi Passi class, held on eight consecutive Tuesdays in the spring beginning on March 13th. Primi Passi (first steps) is a non-auditioned choral music experience for boys and girls. Directed by Trish Joyce, NJYC's Founder and Artistic Director, it is a wonderful way for children to explore their interest in music and singing, and may be a gateway to other opportunities in the New Jersey Youth Chorus. Each session includes lessons on basic choral technique and music reading using games, folk dance, and songs specifically selected for this age group.
If you are familiar with NJYC and all it has to offer, you are not surprised to learn that we have been nominated for a People’s Choice Award. The contest, sponsored by JerseyArts.com, runs through February 20th. You can visit JerseyArts.com/vote to learn more and cast your vote for NJYC.
