Chatham 'Meets Expectations' In PARCC Assessment

CHATHAM, NJ - On average, the School District of the Chathams has met expectations in terms of the district-by-district, school-by-school PARCC results released this week.

Patch put together the rankings, from top to bottom, for each grade (high school math was broken into Algebra I, Geometry and Algebra II). You can see the complete ranking of every school here.

Many districts in New Jersey performed in the "Level 4" and "Level 5" areas, which is between the scores of 750 and 850, the latter being a perfect score. The score breakdowns are as follows:

Level 1 (650-700): Did Not Yet Meet Expectations
Level 2 (700-725): Partially Met Expectations
Level 3 (725-750): Approached Expectations
Level 4 (750-799): Met Expectations
Level 5 (800-850): Exceeded Expectations

In third grade English Chatham ranked 95 with a score of 771. In fourth grade English Chatham ranked 34 with a score of 785. In fifth grade English Chatham ranked 26 with a score of 782. In sixth grade English Chatham ranked 108 with a score of 771. In seventh grade English Chatham ranked 121 with a score of 778. In eighth grade English Chatham ranked 80 with a score of 781. In ninth grade English Chatham ranked 48 with a score of 772. In tenth grade English Chatham ranked 82 with a score of 761. In eleventh grade English Chatham ranked 97 with a score of 744. In twelfth grade English Chatham ranked 97 with a score of 744.

In third grade math Chatham ranked 33 with a score of 777. In fourth grade math Chatham ranked 47 with a score of 770. In fifth grade math Chatham ranked 39 with a score of 771. In sixth grade math Chatham ranked 66 with a score of 761. In seventh grade math Chatham ranked 36 with a score of 765. In eighth grade math Chatham ranked 440 with a score of 708.

In Algebra I Chatham ranked 140 with a score of 773. In Geometry Chatham ranked 92 with a score of 744. In Algebra II Chatham ranked 52 with a score of 747.

The PARCC tests have been a source of controversy for years, and Gov. Phil Murphy has talked for nearly year about finding replacements for the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers test.

Patch focused on town school districts, charter, vocational and magnet schools. Please note that many students opted out of taking the exam, though New Jersey hasn't said how many.
