Neighbor News

Chatham must not be caught off guard again by a little snow.

The town's failure to arrange snow plows and salt trucks before the November 15th storm was unacceptable.

Whoever dropped the ball and did not make sufficient arrangements in time for the snow storm should at least make a public apology. The snow started around 2pm and there was almost no snow plowed on major roads like North Passaic Avenue by 6 pm. I understand that mid-November is a bit early but it isn't August. We all knew snow was coming and this must not happen again. Traffic was backed up for 20 minutes at lights that usually take 2 minutes to pass. Emergency vehicles might not have been able to pass through major intersections. I was stuck in gridlock at Main and Passaic for half an hour, in what was clearly a dangerous situation, caused entirely by the town failing to sufficiently salt and plow in the four hours since the start of the snow. Clearly changed must be made immediately.
