Chatham Scouts Create Sensory Garden For Students
Matt Goldstein led the charge to create a space for ECLC.
CHATHAM, NJ - The students at Education, Careers & Lifelong Community (ECLC) will have a new space to relax and experience thanks to the work of Matt Goldstein and Boy Scout Troop 8.
Goldstein is an Eagle Scout candidate and he led the troop in creating a sensory flower garden that is handicapped accessible at the school. A sensory garden is a garden environment that is designed with the purpose of stimulating the senses. This stimulation occurs courtesy of plants and the use of materials that engage one's senses of sight, smell, touch, taste, and sound.
ECLC of New Jersey provides "Education, Careers & Lifelong Community" to nearly 900 children and adults with special needs from 11 counties. ECLC has schools in Chatham and Ho-Ho-Kus; P.R.I.D.E. Adult Centers in Florham Park and Paramus, and offers opportunities for employment, transition services and support coordination to students and adults through an affiliate, Community Personnel Services (CPS).
