IT TAKES A VILLAGE

As with so many things that happen at the senior center, I am reminded of the saying, “It takes a village.”  The 24 year success of Senior Services of the Chathams isn’t due so much to the efforts of any one individual; rather, it is the collective efforts of many.

Our paper shred last weekend is a case in point.  There was the willingness of Chatham Borough’s Council to let us use the train station parking lot as the location of the paper shred.  There was the financial underwriting of Homewell Senior Care that kept our overhead costs low.  There was the volunteer time of seven members of our Board of Trustees and six Key Club students on a beautiful Saturday that provided man-power at the paper shred.  And finally, it was the warm and generous support of the Chatham community at large that made our paper shred a success.  More than 100 people cumulatively brought 5,000 pounds of paper to be shred!
