The Jr. NBA, the league’s youth basketball participation program for boys and girls, came to the Madison Area YMCA on Aug. 15. More than 60 boys and girls ages 7-14 learned the fundamentals and values of the game during the NBA Basketball Clinic that was taught by 2018 NBA draftees.
Basketball, which was invented at the YMCA more than 125 years ago, is offered all year round at the Madison Area YMCA. Be a part of the Y’s rich basketball tradition! The Madison Area YMCA’s 2018-2019 basketball season kicks off in the fall with pre-season basketball training on Sept. 11 and 13 for girls and boys in 5th – 8th grades. The clinic is open to children, members and non-members, who would like to brush up on their skills before the season gets underway.
The Madison Area YMCA’s travel basketball teams Gators and Lady Gators will hold tryouts for the 2018-2019 season in the fall. Lady Gators’ tryouts for U12 and U14 are Oct. 14, 15 and 17. Gators’ tryouts for U12 and U14 are Oct. 21, 23, 25 and 28.

The fall session, which begins on Sept. 10, includes classes for 4-6 year olds and school age children (Kindergarten through 6th grade). Y-Winners Basketball for grades K-3 will begin in the late fall session through the winter session. All basketball program descriptions can be found at www.madisonareaymca.org.
