League of Women Voters Debate
I encourage everyone to vote for Len Resto and Peter Hoffman.

I watched the League of Women Voters debate last evening between the four candidates for Chatham Borough Council positions. I was struck with the contrasts between the two sets of candidates. Dempsey and Mathiasen’s inexperience and lack of actual volunteer work in Chatham Borough was evident. Their responses were superficial and indicated a lack of understanding of the requirements of being effective Chatham Borough Council members. This experience and judgment is gained from years of volunteer experience across a range of volunteer positions in Chatham Borough.
In contrast. Len Resto and Peter Hoffman displayed the confidence and knowledge one would expect from two citizens who have years and years of effective community service experience between them. That is knowledge and experience that can’t be faked or ignored.
As a resident of Chatham Borough, I want my Council members to know what needs to be done, have the personal contacts to get things done and to have steady and reliable judgment, proven through years of experience honed on multiple Chatham Borough committees and commissions. I don’t want enthusiastic amateurs to be driving the bus.
