Patricia Haverland Joins the Madison Area YMCA Board of Directors

The Madison Area YMCA is pleased to announce that Patricia M. Haverland, a member of the Madison Area YMCA since 2005 when she and her family moved to Madison, has joined its Board of Directors, effective May 9. In prior years, they were members of the Greater Morristown YMCA and the Towson Maryland YMCA. An avid swimmer, Pat’s roots with the YMCA began as a swim team member at the Glen Cove YMCA, and later as a member of the Marietta, GA YMCA swim team.

“We are delighted to welcome Pat to the Board,” said Madison Area YMCA President & CEO Diane Mann. “We look forward to working with Pat and are confident that she will enhance the quality leadership that is characteristic of all of our Board members.”

Pat and her husband, Mark McBride, have two daughters. Colleen is completing a Master of Arts degree in Sociology at George Washington University. Julia is a senior at Loyola University Maryland majoring in Global Studies. Julia was a member of the first graduating class of the Madison Area YMCA’s LIVESTRONG program in 2013.

Recently retired from her position as Vice President & Chief Investment Officer for Siemens, Pat was responsible for managing the company’s North American pension investments. She has held similar positions with Black & Decker, Pharmacia, MMC and MetLife. Pat is serving her final year of a three-year appointment as Employer Representative on the U.S. Department of Labor’s ERISA Advisory Council, advising the Secretary of Labor on matters related to employee welfare and pension benefit plans.

Pat is a volunteer on the Leadership Development Advisory Council of Seton Hall University’s Center for Leadership Development and provides individual and group mentoring for SHU students. Pat and her husband, Mark, are co-chairs of Loyola Maryland’s Parent Council.

Pat earned her BA degree from Duke University and an MBA from Columbia University. She is a Chartered Financial Analyst.
