Amici Offers Free Soup For Seniors In Cherry Hill Amid Outbreak

Amici Ristorante in Cherry Hill is offering free soup for seniors amid the outbreak of new coronavirus.

CHERRY HILL, NJ — Amici Ristorante is offering a number of discounts for Cherry Hill residents amid the outbreak of new coronavirus. One that stands out in particular is the restaurant’s offer of free soup for seniors.

Amici is offering free soup for people who are 65 years old and older every Monday through Thursday during the outbreak of the virus, according to a post on the restaurant’s Facebook page.

Amici is also offering free delivery of any order $50 or more within a 4-mile radius of the restaurant, and 20 percent off any pickup orders. The offer for seniors is noteworthy as they have been the most at-risk.

Doctors have noted the virus is more likely to be fatal for seniors who have underlying health problems. As of Tuesday, there has been at least one case of the virus reported at a long-term care facility in 19 of the state’s 21 counties, according to New Jersey Health Officer Judith Persichelli. Nine of the state’s 44 total deaths have come from these facilities.

Chef Alex Daku began studying culinary arts in Torino, Italy, when he was 17, according to therestaurant’s website. He has worked in kitchens in Europe and New York City.

He had been planning to move Amici to a larger location, but those plans are on hold. He also had to lay off waitstaff after Gov. Phil Murphy ordered all restaurants to close last weekend, according to the Courier Post.
