'Difficult Decisions': Cherry Hill Schools Hit With Reduction In State Aid Funding For New School Year

The district says it lost $8.6 million in funding over the last three years.

CHERRY HILL, NJ — Leaders within Cherry Hill Public Schools addressed the community on Thursday after learning that the district would see a reduction in state aid.

This is the third school year in a row that Cherry Hill has received a lesser allocation than the year prior.

"These continued revenue losses have a compounding effect and require us to continue making difficult decisions," Superintendent Dr. Kwame R. Morton and Board of Education President Gina Winters said in a joint statement.

"As we address the impact...the Board of Education and district administration remain committed to reviewing all options carefully, pursuing appropriate solutions, and advocating for fair and adequate state funding," Morton and Winters added.

On Thursday, the New Jersey Department of Education released the aid figures for each district as part of Governor Mikie Sherrill's proposed budget for 2026/2027.

While the $12.4 billion towards school aid is an increase over 2025/2026, 167 of the 574 public school districts saw a reduction as part of Sherrill's larger goal for consolidation and more shared services.
