Founded by Jamie Queli, the location features skeeball machines, fun house mirrors, a boardwalk spin wheel and a 30 barrel brewing system.
The tap room has eight tap handles which will have four Forgotten Boardwalk mainstay beers, plus four brewers’ choice beers, all of which are produced on premises.
“We’ve been working on this project for a long time and we are finally ready to unveil our brewery and begin releasing beers to bars, restaurants, and liquor stores starting this October,” Queli said. “If you want to take a tour of our brewery and want to learn more about the brewing process, you can do that. If you want to relax with a cold and bold flavored beer you can also do that. You can even challenge our head brewer, David Bronstein, to a game of skeeball – it’s what Forgotten Boardwalk is all about.”
Head brewer, David Bronstein, joined the Forgotten Boardwalk team from Sly Fox Brewing Company in April.
Bronstein was with Sly Fox for eight years as their lead brewer before taking the reigns as Head Brewer with Forgotten Boardwalk.
“David is an amazingly, talented, brewer,” Queli said. “He strives for consistency, quality, and great flavor in every beer he makes. I have given him full creative control in the brew house and he’s running full steam ahead.”
Visitors may also purchase Forgotten Boardwalk’s two flagship beers in cans, to go. The two flagship beers are “1916 Shore Shiver,” an india pale ale, and “What the Butler Saw,” an undressed wit beer.
“1916 Shore Shiver” is based on the man-eating shark that terrorized the New Jersey shore.
Forgotten Boardwalk’s tall tale states: “In the summer of 1916, a shark haunted the New Jersey coastline killing four & injuring seven. While there is much debate over what shark was responsible, there is no question that the attacks found their way into pop books & films depicting one great white shark who made the shore shiver.”
“What The Butler Saw” is based on a cheap thrill at the boardwalk: “Tucked away in the dark confines of the boardwalk during the turn of the century were mutoscopes. Inside one of these gems was a silent slideshow featuring a voyeuristic butler looking through a keyhole. The film, What the Butler Saw, let you privately take a peep while standing in plain view.”
