Volunteer Opportunity For Art Lovers

Art Goes To School (AGTS) is a volunteer art appreciation program serving all Cherry Hill elementary schools for 50 years. Volunteers bring a portfolio of reproductions of art from around the world and across the ages into classrooms, like a traveling museum.

The Cherry Hill chapter of AGTS offers this FREE program to grades 1 - 5, without impact on school budgets or staff. Children are encouraged to look, listen and talk about the artwork while sharpening their visual, investigative and communication skills. Students learn about art from cave paintings to contemporary works.

No teaching or art experience is necessary. AGTS provides orientation and trains volunteers for a total of 90 minutes a week from mid September - November. The actual school art presentations take place from December - March. Most volunteers sign up for 8 forty-minute class presentations at schools of their choosing.
