Lidl Headed To Cherry Hill Following Planning Board Approval

CHERRY HILL, NJ — German grocery store giant Lidl will open a location in Cherry Hill next year, njpen.com reports. The Cherry Hill Planning Board unanimously approved plans to allow the grocery store to open a 36,000 square-foot market in the township on Monday night. It would be located at 400 Route 38.
It will go on a vacant piece of land in the middle of Cuthbert Boulevard, Hampton Road and Route 38 west, according to the report. The plan includes parking spots for 163 vehicles and six bikes, and would add about 30-35 new jobs locally.
In September, Business Insider reported Lidl planned to open a litany of stores in the United States by 2018, with a heavy focus on the East Coast from New Jersey to Georgia. The unofficial number of new stores listed was about 150.

The chain, known for its rock bottom prices, already has more than 10,000 stores in 26 European countries, according to the report. It is considered to be a cross between Walmart and Trader Joe’s.
Locally, it is also targeting a site on Route 130 South and Highland Avenue in Cinnaminson. That project is scheduled to go before the planning board in that township this month.
