Man Who Helped Run Oxycodone Ring In Gloucester City Sentenced: Feds

CAMDEN, NJ — A middleman in a high-dose oxycodone distribution scheme that operated in Gloucester City and the city of Camden was sentenced on Wednesday to spend three years in prison, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.

Erick Bell, 49, of Camden, will also serve three years of supervised release, officials said.

He had previously admitted to working as a middleman on multiple occasions from January 2020 to March 2020, according to officials.

In one instance during that period, he obtained 160 pills containing 80 milligrams of oxycodone pills from a conspirator and sold them to two other people, officials said.

"Oxycodone is a Schedule II controlled substance – meaning that it has a high potential for abuse, a currently accepted medical use with severe restrictions, and abuse of the drug may lead to severe psychological or physical dependence," the U.S. Attorney's Office said.

Another member of the same distribution ring — Rocco DePoder of Gloucester City — was sentenced last October to spend 70 months in prison for his part in the same scheme, according to officials.
