Death Of Former Camden County NAACP President Mourned
Colandus Francis was a 'civic icon,' Camden County Commissioner Jonathan Young says.

CAMDEN, NJ — Camden County Commissioner Jonathan Young paid his respects to former Camden County President of the NAACP Colandus “Kelly” Francis on Monday.
Francis died Saturday at the age of 87, according to the courierpostonline.
"Kelly was a civic icon in the city of Camden and someone we all came to know and respect," Young said in a press release. He "was on the right side of some of the biggest issues of the day like affordable housing and economic development in his beloved Parkside neighborhood."

Young also noted Francis' extensive involvement in other communities and causes.
"Kelly and I didn’t always share the same views on certain issues, but he was always cordial and respectful in the public forum and I will always remember his civility and commitment to his community," he said. "His family are in our thoughts and prayers as the city has lost a dedicated advocate, servant and activist."
