Armed Man Tries To Lock Bank Employees In Vault, Steals $76K In Cherry Hill: Officials
The man held Investors Bank employees at gunpoint and tried to lock them up before fleeing with the cash on Dec. 22, officials said.

CHERRY HILL, NJ — A North Jersey man has been arrested for holding employees at gunpoint and trying to lock them in a Cherry Hill bank vault before taking $76,000 in cash, officials said.
The Camden County Prosecutor's Office charged 42-year-old William Ray of East Orange with seven offenses in connection with the Dec. 22 robbery at Investors Bank (1951 Route 70, Cherry Hill). Officials said Ray came into the bank at around 4:43 p.m. that day and showed a handgun to the employees, attempting to lock them up before fleeing with the money.
Members of the U.S. Marshals Service arrested Ray on Friday, Jan. 6 at 7:30 a.m. in Passaic, according to Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay and Cherry Hill Police Chief Robert Kempf.

Officials executed a search warrant at his residence in East Orange on Dec. 30, MacAulay and Kempf said. After investigation, officials charged Ray with two counts of first-degree robbery, one count of second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, one count of second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, one county of second-degree persons not to have weapons, and two counts of fourth-degree aggravated assault, authorities said.
Ray is in custody at the Camden County Correctional Facility, according to officials.

Moorestown Police, East Orange Police, Newark Police, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the U.S. Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force (Camden and Newark Divisions) assisted the county prosecutor’s office Major Crimes Unit and the Cherry Hill PD, officials said.
