Tentative Reopening Date Given For Covered Bridge In Camden County
The Scarborough Covered Bridge was closed after a truck slammed into it on July 27, officials have previously said.

CHERRY HILL, NJ — The historic Scarborough Covered Bridge in Cherry Hill Township may reopen as early as Wednesday or possibly Friday, the municipality said on its Facebook page.
The covered bridge was believed to be only one of two still in use in New Jersey until a truck slammed into it on July 27, Cherry Hill Township Police Chief Robert Kempf told Patch on July 28.
Several of the bridge's structural beams were damaged in the crash, Kempf told Patch on Aug. 5.

Several Cherry Hill residents were delighted to hear that the bridge would likely reopen by the end
of the week, while another wondered if steps were being taken to prevent crashes like the one on July 27 from being what the resident called the "new normal."
In a related story, the driver of the truck — who Cherry Hill Police previously identified as Baljinder Singh of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada — was scheduled to be issued a summons for leaving the scene of an accident, failure to report an accident and careless driving, Kempf said in the Aug. 5 interview.

Singh was also slated to receive a violation notice "for being in that neighborhood with an overweight load," Kempf also said on Aug. 5.
