Off-Track Betting Proposal Approved In Cherry Hill: Report

An off-track betting operation has been approved for the former Garden State Park racetrack, the Courier Post reports.

CHERRY HILL, NJ — The Cherry Hill Planning Board has reportedly approved a plan to bring an off-track betting facility to the township.

The proposal was approved Tuesday night, but a timetable for opening has not yet been put in place, the Courier Post reports. Penn National Gaming didn’t want to set a hard open date for what it is describing as a “sports bar-restaurant that allows wagering on (televised) horse-racing.” Sports-betting would be possible, but is under litigation at the moment.

The planning board agenda lists the site as an approximately 30,000 square foot off-track wagering facility at the former Garden State Park racetrack on Route 70. The plan also calls for the preservation of the existing Garden State Park gatehouse with various site improvements.
